One of the worst things about living in the city is you don’t have a yard.
Depends who you ask, what season it is, and if you’ve got kids/pets. Being from Georgia, I personally miss having a big yard. There’s nothing I love more than an amazing back yard- porch drinking, laying by the pool, outdoor grilling, making s’mores on the fire pit, growing a garden…as you can see, the list goes on.
But here in Boston, our back yards are alleys/parking lots, and our front “yards” are 4′ X 10′ spaces (<–that’s a big one!) shared by your neighbors. Needless to say, you’ve got to get creative to maximize space. The good thing is, you can go all out & create a beautiful space for a fraction of the landscaping cost. I happen to live in the most adorable neighborhood in town where there are some impeccable “front lawns”….here are a few of my favorites:
This last one is my personal favorite- the colors are so amazing in person & it really steals the show:
And here is the charming private back yard of mine. Better known as the fire escape platform that I am [probably illegally] using as a mini-garden. I’ve got some mums, basil, half dead chives & an unknown herb. Hey…it works!
I bet my Georgia peeps are just dying right about now…come visit me & you can see for yourself 😉
