An inspirational bedroom via the team at Studio McGee
One of the main reasons we chose our new brownstone is that we were able to get a guest bedroom. Given that Terry and I are both from out of state, we often have visitors. When we lived in a two-bedroom place in Brookline we had guests stay over at least once per month, if not more! Between two out of state families / friends and living in one of the coolest cities in the US, it’s no surprise that people love to visit!
That said, there are many other perks for us in having a guest bedroom. Of course, a guest bedroom means an extra bed for when someone is sick and needs a great night’s sleep alone. Then there is the extra storage. Oh, the storage! I cannot even tell you what a game changer it has been to each have our own dresser and our own closet. This alone has been worth the second bedroom. And then, of course, the designer in me loves the fact that we have an extra room to decorate – with a fireplace and built-in shelves, might I add!
Admittedly, this room has been neglected thus far but I’m getting my design plan together and hope to have it finished by the end of the month. Keep in mind the room is long & narrow so it’s an awkward space. Here’s my plan:
{ daybed / artwork / floor lamp / side table / dresser / mirror / rug / velvet pillow / patterned pillow / lumbar fringe pillow }
So…who’s coming to visit?!
