On Sunday, April 25th our baby Duke was Baptized at St. Martin’s Episcopal Church here in Brookhaven, Georgia. We are so incredibly lucky that almost everyone we invited was able to attend. Terry’s family generously flew in from all over the US – Florida, Philadelphia, New Jersey, even Wyoming! We had my in-laws (mother, brother and sister) and cousin stay with us for the long weekend with additional aunts, uncles and friends join in for Duke’s big day. Hosting family in our house 7+ days was so much fun and it made us really look forward to holidays down the road. I just love hosting and having a full house – it’s so much fun!
We were blessed with a day that was 75 and sunny, not a cloud in the sky. The Baptism itself was an intimate ceremony with about 10 close family members and Duke’s Godparents (who happen to be the best in the world – what a lucky boy). After the Baptism, we headed back to the house where we hosted a party for another 20+ guests. We dined on some Southern favorites – chicken salad croissants, pimento cheese sandwiches, cheese straws – and some refreshing treats, including a whipped cream & berry bar, custom cookies, a custom cake and an assortment of sweet treats. The champagne, rose and white wine were flowing as guests enjoyed the day – many of whom had yet to see our new house or meet Duke.
All in all, we could not have asked for a better day. The weather, food, guests and vibe was sheer perfection. We loved celebrating our baby Duke!
