Hi Y’all! Happy Monday! Oh, I have been waiting so long to share my porch reveal with you. I had to wait until today because we finally got plants this weekend (we still are planning to get hanging over-the-rail planters for herbs as well). The weather has been so ideal the past few weeks – we’ve been grilling out and hanging on our deck almost every day! It is our new weekend favorite to have friends over to grill out, have a few drinks, listen to music and just enjoy being outside. Having outdoor space is such a luxury here in Boston that we are trying to soak in every moment!
So as a friendly reminder, here is what our porch looked like when we moved in:
Needless to say, we had a long way to go. The space was lacking any charm, warmth and comfort. As I like to do with all blank spaces, I created a design board so I could have a vision of what we wanted and needed for our porch. First up: seating. For us, it was more important to have a lounge area versus a dining area. Our dining table is right inside that door so we really didn’t need additional dining space. We wanted to be able to seat at least 4 people comfortably, as well as have surfaces to place drinks and snacks on. We also needed a grilling area and outdoor storage (for winter / inclement weather). Lastly, we really wanted to create an outdoor oasis – somewhere that felt like we weren’t smack dab in the middle of a big city. I knew this meant that we would need various textures, candles, plants, flowers and pillows. My husband requested a “zen” space and I think we nailed it.
