If you have noticed that I’ve been a bit aloof for the past week or two, I promise I have good reason. We moved! Those who follow along on Instagram know that this move has been a total labor of love. Like most rentals here in Boston, the brownstones are old so easily show signs of wear & tear if not properly maintained. The previous tenants left the place in pretty bad shape and our landlord has been less than reasonable with making repairs. etc. Needless to say, my frustration was at an all time high during this move and we worked really hard to clean the place (for two days – no joke) and make it feel livable again!
All of that said, the brownstone we are in has really great bones and I am excited to have a space bigger than our last to decorate. We have an incredible amount of natural light in the living room (two huge bow windows and 12′ ceilings) with hardwood floors, exposed brick walls and intricate molding all around. Because the space is so traditional by nature, I plan to add some modern pieces for juxtaposition and many, many textures to warm the room up. Below is the design plan that I have been building from – most of the pieces have already been ordered so now I’m just piecing it all together. Of course, there will be plenty of woven baskets, seasonal blankets, candles and plants that aren’t in this design board so keep in mind that this is just the baseline of the room. I’ll be sure to share the full reveal once the space is complete!
