I’m typically a gold > silver kind of gal- jewelry, décor, accents, hardware. But lately I’ve been inspired by some pretty beautiful silver elements in home design. In order to avoid looking too “blingy” or too holiday or too cheesy, silver is best used with grays, whites, creams, and with a matte or antique finish. Silver goes a long way, so small doses are a great way to bring this touch into your home.
All three of the below photos use silver metals perfectly – bench legs, sconces & candle holders work well with the gray upholstery & neutral rooms:
A classic way to use silver is to incorporate it into your kitchen. The kitchen is one of the few places where I actually prefer silver over gold. Now, don’t get me wrong, kitchens with gold hardware/lighting are gorgeous (especially this one and this one) but I find silver/chrome to be a bit more timeless. Unless you can afford to gut & remodel your kitchen every 5 years, this may be a more realistic option- try lighting, hardware, stools or accessories:
