Our Wedding Anniversary: 2 Years

Life, Marriage, Weddings

7.22.19

What a magical day. It was a warm day but a bit overcast with a chance of rain. In fact, it sprinkled a little bit right before we did our “first look”, which is actually good luck in the world of wedding superstitions. We had over 110 of our closest friends that came to the charming town of Saratoga Springs. Saratoga has a small-town, Southern feel (with one main road and hydrangeas blooming) but is set in the beautiful green scenery of upstate New York. It’s truly the best of North meets South, which is why Terry and I chose to celebrate our love in this beautiful city. The town is built around the historic horse racing track (the oldest sporting venue in the country) so we opted to take advantage of this charming factor. Since every single one of our guests had to travel, we decided to host everyone for a three-day, fun-filled celebration. We started with a day at the track, followed by an “I Do BBQ” rehearsal dinner (an homage to my southern roots) and of course, our beautiful wedding day.

Looking back, there is not one single thing I would change. To us, it was perfection.

Given that we’ve only been married for two years, we are still very much in the “newlywed” phase of marriage. We certainly don’t claim to be marriage experts and I won’t give any advice or tips, as I don’t think I’m qualified. All I know is that I love and adore my husband and we are building an incredible life together. One that makes us happy. In lieu of marriage talk, I thought it would be fun to share what we’ve been up to during our second year of marriage. This should provide an accurate glimpse into our lives during year two…

+ We went back to Saratoga to re-live our wedding weekend (on our anniversary).

+ We sold our car (we are officially embracing “city living”).

+ We hosted our families in Boston and showed them our favorite new local spots.

+ We traveled to Bali + Hong Kong for our honeymoon anniversary – these were huge bucket list items and we loved every minute of this trip.

+ I started a new job. And have had the most supportive husband through the process.

+ We attended two weddings of loved ones.

+ We watched as two of our best friends welcomed their first baby into this world.

+ Terry finally got me skiing which has been a challenge goal of his J

+ We started house hunting for our first home.

+ We planned a trip back to Africa as we were so moved by our honeymoon.

+ We visited wine country with childhood friends.

+ We enjoyed some down time together in Aruba in March.

+ We spent a weekend in Charleston and have since been daydreaming of how we can live there one day.

+ We started planning our future and it’s very exciting!

With so many incredible plans ahead – including travel, planting roots, purchasing a home and starting a family – we are so grateful to have the love and support of our family and close friends. We are surrounded by love and have such wonderful examples of what it takes to live a fulfilling, loving life together as a married couple. Cheers to two years!
