Since this is my first pregnancy (and the first grandbaby on my side!), I thought it would be fun to share a monthly update. This is also going to be wonderful for me to look back on because let me tell you – it’s already flying by! It feels like just yesterday I found out I was pregnant and here we are, entering the 2nd trimester. I want to soak in every moment over these 9 (10?) months to fully embrace the change that is happening in my body. I’ll keep this short and sweet but follow along if you’d like!
Due Date: February 24th, 2021 (although my last 2 sonograms, the tech said I’m measuring about one week ahead)
Weeks: 16 weeks (2nd trimester)
Symptoms: My sciatica is en fuego! It hurts nonstop so I’ve been focusing on breathing, mobility and stretching for it. I have found so many wonderful prenatal online videos for stretching, yoga, pilates, core strength, pelvic floor. I try to do one every morning when I wake up, which is helping!
Nausea is still here, though it has subsided a bit. I’m only getting sick every other day which is a vast improvement from multiple times per day, which I was experiencing the first 14 weeks. People keep telling me that this means I’m having a girl! We aren’t finding out but I think it’s fun to hear guesses and old wives tales.
Sleep: Fantastic. Sleeping a solid 8+/night, even more on the weekends.
Exercise: Luckily my energy level is back up and I am back to working out 5+ days per week. I’m trying to keep up the strength training with weight lifting at least twice per week. Balancing that out with daily walks, prenatal yoga/barre videos and either spin or running 2-3 times/week.
Food Cravings: Anything bland (toast, eggs, crackers) and all of the fruit! I am loving oranges, pineapple, watermelon, cold apples, berries, etc.
Food Aversions: Anything spicy, flavorful and exotic! I am a Bland Betty these days in the food department. Also the thought of seafood makes me queasy – I don’t think I’ve touched a piece of meat or seafood in months at this point.
Milestones: Sharing with the world that we’re pregnant (see our announcement here!) and getting the genetic testing results back (all healthy, thank God). We can both now breathe a sigh of relief. I’ve also started perusing baby nursery designs on Pinterest which has me giddy. I know exactly what I want in my head, so just trying to piece it all together.
