Note: I wrote this draft about a week before Duke’s early arrival! Sadly, I never made it to the 9th month so this will be my last monthly pregnancy update!
Wow, month 8 came and went faster than I could have imagined! It’s like we hit Christmas and time flew by. My due date went from feeling like a lifetime away to being around the corner. I think that sh*t got real when my doctor asked me last week what my hospital plan was. Umm…go there? I realized that we are a bit ill prepared so Terry and I are in the process of getting a plan together – route to the hospital (yup, embarrassed to say we haven’t even driven by yet), getting coverage for Mela, learning how to install the car seat, packing our bags, etc. I also finished up work this past week and am officially on maternity leave. I am SO thankful that my amazing company gives expecting moms 4 weeks off prior to the due date to prepare for baby. To say that I need this time would be a huge understatement.
Due Date: February 24, 2021
Weeks: 34 weeks (8 months / 3rd trimester)
+ Appetite: Appetite is allllll over. There are days I barely eat, days I cant Keep anything down, days I eat like normal and days I’m ravenous. Some meals it’s eggs and toast, others it’s a bowl of soup, others I’m craving ice cream. There is no rhyme or reason to my appetite and it is so bizarre. The one constant through my entire pregnancy has been fruit though – I’m back on the pineapple train hard (week 32 I ate three…THREE…pineapples in a week lol) and I’ve been craving green juice lately. A delicious, but expensive habit since my local Whole Foods has the ‘green lemonade’ pressed juice which I’m obsessed with. At $7/ bottle I shouldn’t drink one daily but I can Help myself!
+ Energy: My energy levels are officially draining. By like 3pm everyday I’m beat. I am trying to work out in the am/lunchtime or else it won’t happen. My belly feels large, my body aches & I just feel worn out. Luckily I’m sleeping great so as long as I get To bed early, I can crank through work & working out early enough to feel accomplished by like 3 or 4.
+ Kicks: Movement is outta control! Baby is finally kicking for people other than me – I was Lying on the sofa at my parents house the other day and my dad saw my belly moving through my shirt from a chair away. It was so cool and we both couldn’t believe how much it was moving around! That part has been really fun to share with loved ones.
+ Getting prepared: Nesting is in full swing! I have been organizing the nursery, enlisted a pediatrician, getting mentally prepared for birth, thinking through our hospital plan (what to pack, what to do with the dog, etc) and getting our items assembled. In the past week we had our stroller, car seat, crib, diapers, pack n play & high chair all delivered. We are officially in “baby mode” here at the Kozmor house.
+ Highlight: Without a doubt – my baby shower! The day was so incredible – my friends really know ME and what I like. They served chicken salad sandwiches in croissants (my fave), pesto pasta, cute cocktails/mocktails, and cupcakes. Everything was neutral with cute animals and we were able to be outside by the fire-pit to enjoy each other on a nice day. They even had a balloon photo wall! And so many great gifts – adorable onesies, blankets, toys, books, my pack n play, crib, bouncer chair, etc. I was overwhelmed with gratefulness and feel so lucky to have such wonderful friends who would throw this shower for me. I had the best time putting the items all in the nursery and showing Terry all of our gifts.
